Outdoor Webelos Leadership (OWL)
What is it:
OWL helps leaders learn how to provide a memorable camping experience for their Webelos Scouts and parents or guardians. It covers the skills and resources needed to teach the outdoor activity badges and to provide good and safe outdoor experiences.
Who should attend:
Completion of this training is required before a Webelos den can go on a campout, so at least one member of your den should attend. OWL training is also a requirement for earning the Webelos Den Leader Training Award knot.
When and Where:
Participants must be present for two separate sessions:
1) Mandatory Patrol Meeting 7:00PM-9:00PM on Tuesday, March 18 at the Firestone Scouting Resource Center, 1485 Valley Forge Road, Wayne PA. Participants will be instructed on course expectations and equipment they are expected to bring, and dens will organize and equipment plans.
2) Weekend camping at the Nelson Training Center, Camp Delmont, Musser Scout Reservation. Participants can begin setting up their campsites at 5:30PM on Friday March 28 and the program will begin at 7:00 PM sharp. We expect to end around 10:00AM on Sunday March 30.
The $25 fee will cover the cost of the facility plus administrative expenses, materials and Saturday lunch. Your den will determine the cost for all other meals, which will be collected within the den.
The registration period ends on March 17, 2014. Register below. Walk-in registrations will NOT be accepted.
Cub Scout Leaders should take BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation). Although the IOLS (Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills) training for Boy Scout leaders is being held on the same dates and location as OWL, these are distinct events and participants will receive credit for only one.
